IN the short time it takes you to read this page, it is a sad fact that somebody, somewhere in the UK is being diagnosed with breast cancer.
More than 55,000 women – and 350 men – are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. We all know somebody whose life has been touched by the disease … a family member, a friend, a neighbour or a work colleague. It may even be yourself.
That’s why, as part of or Corporate Social Responsibility programme supporting charities and good cases in our community, we are thrilled to be supporting the vital work carried out by Breast Cancer Haven https://www.breastcancerhaven.org.uk/ here in Yorkshire.
Breast Cancer Haven takes over after the NHS treatment is finished. It provides therapies, counselling, classes and overall support for people who have been affected by breast cancer whether that be you personally or those close to you.
We have already launched our partnership by staging a Free Wills Month, where we will draft or update a simple will for people in return for a “thank you” donation to Breast Cancer Haven. You can read more about then initiative here. https://www.milnerslaw.com/free-will-writing-sessions-launched-to-support-yorkshire-people-with-breast-cancer/
Throughout the year, as individuals as well as a company, we will be getting involved in a wide range of fund-raising activities to help the one-in-eight of us who will be diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
In addition to Breast Cancer Haven being our chosen charity for 2019, we are also continuing to support The Red Box project http://redboxproject.org/ in its efforts nationwide to end “period poverty”.
The charity’s aim is to provide free menstrual products and clothes to any young person that may struggle to access it, such as in schools. And we are delighted to be playing a role to make a positive difference here in Yorkshire by acting as a collection point and taking the products into local schools.
