Giles Ward

I am head of Commercial Litigation and Joint Managing Partner of Milners.  I have been practicing Commercial and Construction Law for my entire career and represent clients both nationally and internationally. I have, unusually, a wealth of trial experience both in Court and arbitration and deal with large, complex disputes of all nature and type.  I have specific expertise in catastrophic building failures (be it fire, flooding or collapse) and architectural negligence.

I also take instructions in respect of shipping disputes - primarily hull and machinery claims and recoveries.

Our work covers the early stages of potential disputes through to mediation and/or Court proceedings. We also have experience of arbitrations be they in the London Maritime Arbitration Association (LMAA), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) or other arbitral bodies.

I currently manage a team of four lawyers who are often involved in assisting me with larger cases or when injunctive relief is needed on an expedited basis.  I am an accredited Mediator and a non executive director for a multinational company.

Recent Cases
Recently defended a million pound counterclaim against a stately home for breach of contract.

Instructed on numerous injunctions with regards to restrictive covenants.
Instructed on various fraud related matters and the recovery of funds.
Instructed upon the design teams negligence of a well known public school.

Background
I qualified in 1992 and worked previously at Watson Burton and Hammonds.

Interests
The majority of my spare time is spent with my family, although I do take a very keen interest in both rugby and boxing.
