Dean Hill

I am a Partner in our Commercial Litigation Department with particular expertise in contractual disputes, debt recovery actions, negligence claims, construction disputes and property disputes of all shapes and sizes.  I also provide advice and assistance in relation to insolvency acting for individuals, distressed companies and Insolvency Practitioners.

Whilst most people may see Commercial Litigation as “Court work”, I am always alive to alternative forms of dispute resolution such as Mediation and provide the necessary advice to enable my clients to make an informed and commercial decision.

Recent Cases
I recently acted for a homeowner in the pursuit of a claim against a building company arising from a barn conversion that did not go well. Whilst we were initially met with a blanket denial of responsibility, ultimately we were able to successfully conclude the claim for the client at Mediation. I have also recently concluded a claim on behalf of a large stately home that ran to a 5 and a half day Trial in the High Court and involved a significant counterclaim against us for loss of profits arising from our client’s termination of a contract which I was involved in throughout.

Background
I started my career with Walker Morris Solicitors in Leeds, I joined Milners as a Paralegal in 2003 and have not looked back since having trained and qualified with the firm. I became a Partner in 2009 and I now have the pleasure of working with a young and dynamic Partnership that is focused on providing an excellent service to its clients.

Interests
I used to say football but on the basis that (1) my poorly knees have finally put an end to my playing days and (2) Liverpool FC continue to disappoint on a weekly basis, my spare time is now spent discovering “the great outdoors” and pretending to my wife that I enjoy DIY.
